About the Tour

The Sirimon Route is an accessible and enjoyable hiking route on Mount Kenya and well within the capabilities of fit hill walkers, offering a varied trek from the cultivated lowlands, through unique glacier-sculpted alpine heath and up to jagged volcanic peaks and glistening glaciers near the peak of Point Lenana.

Mount Kenya is an ancient volcano in which three million years of weathering has sculpted into a masterpiece of geological landscaping. There are many endemic species of flora and classic African wildlife within a short distance of permanent glaciers and the trails follow the surrounding valleys up to the foot of the remains of the volcanic plug.

Tour Rules

1. A deposit of 30% is required and the balance to be paid at least 2 weeks before the departure date unless special arrangements are made for payment on departure date.

2. Cancellation received 2 days before the departure date is subject to a 50% cancelation fee while no show will attract 100% fee.

DAY 1 NAIROBI - NANYUKI

Leave Nairobi by public means accompanied by our mountain guide arriving Nanyuki in time for lunch. The rest of the day is spent acclimatizing. Dinner and overnight at a budget hotel.

DAY 2 NANYUKI - OLD MOSES

After breakfast, drive to Sirimon gate and begin a five hour like to the Old Moses camp (3,300m above sea level ). Overnight at the hut.

DAY 3 OLD MOSES CAMP - SHIPTON CAMP

After breakfast, walk from Old Moses via Mackinders Valley to Shipton hut (4,200m). Dinner and overnight at the camp.

DAY 4 SHIPTON POINT - LENANA - OLD MOSES

Wake early in the morning at 2.30 a.m. ready to hike to point Lenana 4985. On a clear day, you should be able to see Mt. Kilimanjaro to the south. Mt. Elgon to the west and Indian ocean to the East. After the point, Lenana descends to Shipton for Main breakfast and soon after to Old Moses camp for dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 5 OLD MOSES - NAIROBI

After breakfast transfer from Old Moses to catch transport to Nairobi where the tour ends. N/B TECHNICAL CLIMBING IS AVAILABLE ON REQUEST.
