About the Tour

Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in African and one of the largest extinct volcanoes. It can be climbed at any time except in April and May during long rains. January to March and August to October are the best climbing seasons.

We use Marango Route which is one of the scenic and the easiest and most accessible. Marangu climbing route starts from Marangu village at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro and provides accommodation in huts.

Tour starts and ends at Nairobi.

Tour Rules

1. A deposit of 30% is required and the balance to be paid at least 2 weeks before the departure date unless special arrangements are made for payment on departure date.

2. Cancellation received 2 days before the departure date is subject to a 50% cancelation fee while no show will attract 100% fee.

DAY 1 NAIROBI - MOSHI

Arrive Namanga border town at 10.00hrs. After immigration formalities, continue to Arusha for lunch. Drive to Moshi where the afternoon is spent organizing the climbing gear. Dinner and overnight at Springlands hotel Moshi.

DAY 2MOSHI - MANDARA HUT

After breakfast, drive 45kms to Maranga gate an altitude of 1,860m. Walk to Mandara Hut, 2,744m(9000 ft) through a dense semi-tropical rain forest, for your overnight on Mt. Kilimanjaro. Meals and overnight at the hut.

DAY 3MANDARA - HOROMBO HUT

Start early morning for a 10 hrs walk towards Horombo. The landscape becomes more rugged and rocky but superb, with both Mawenzi and Kibo peaks in view. You spend your second night at the Mountain at Horombo Hut, an altitude of 3,761m (12,335ft).

DAY 4HOROMBO HUT

Taking a tiring 13kms walk which takes 6 hrs to Kibo hut 4,732m (15,520ft)above sea level. Spectacular mountain vegetation like cactus, ground well and lobelia appear. Meals and overnight at the hut.

DAY 5KIBO - UHURU PEAK - HOROMBO HUT

The final attempt to the summit is made early hours of the morning at 2.00 a.m it takes about 5 hrs to climb the steepest and most difficult part of the route to Gilman's point (5,681m)18,640ft. From Gilman's, it takes one and a half hrs to Uhuru peak, 5,896m (19,344). Descend to Horombo Hut for dinner and overnight.

DAY 6 HOROMBO - MOSHI

Descend is rabid. After breakfast, drive to Arusha for lunch, then to Nairobi via Namanga border town, arriving early in the evening. Please note: on this itinerary clients may be accommodated at suitable hotels in Arusha. Accommodation may also be upgraded at extra cost.
